Lucas Thomazinho began his piano studies at the age of eight. He studied at São Paulo’s Magda Tagliaferro Foundation, with teachers Zilda Candida dos Santos, Armando Fava Filho and Flavio Varani; he received his Bachelor of Music from the University of São Paulo as a student of Eduardo Monteiro.
Lucas has toured widely throughout Brazil, Portugal, Spain, France and Germany, appearing in recitals and as a soloist with orchestras such as São Paulo Symphony Orchestra, Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra. He has appeared with notable conductors such as Marin Alsop, Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez and Henrik Schaefer, and collaborated in masterclasses with eminent pianists including Michel Dalberto, Cristina Ortiz, Joaquín Soriano, Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Paul Lewis.
Lucas is currently studying with Wha Kyung Byun and Alessio Bax for his Master’s degree at the New England Conservatory of Boston. He released his first CD, with pieces by Czerny, Liszt, Scriabin, Granados, Carlos Gomes and Camargo Guarnieri, in 2017.
